About Tortuga Yoga and Retreats

HI I’m Rachel Henson, where to begin?  So, one night at about 3 am, I signed up for a yoga 200hr Ashtanga teacher training in Nicaragua, gotta love the internet, and blindly went a few weeks later.  I did not know this would be one of the hardest and most rewarding experiences of my life.  No running water, no electricity, two buckets were our shower, and my teacher only spoke Swedish and Spanish.  Upon my return, I went back to my corporate job and started volunteering to teach classes at The Bridge over Trouble Waters, a battered women’s shelter in Pasadena, TX. Within a month, a friend invited me to sign up for a long waiting list for Goat Yoga in Oregon and I decided I wasn’t willing to wait.  In 2017, I started Goat Yoga Houston, the first in Texas, and third in the United States, and over the next years expanded it to different cities throughout Texas and Oklahoma.  Fast forward 3 years and over 1000 teaching hours later and its 2020 and the pandemic is upon us.  I had always loved spending time in Central America on mission work and I loved the culture and slower pace of Mexico, Cozumel specifically and I found peace in the sea and the safety and security of the small but diverse island.  I found myself making trips monthly.  After selling Goat Yoga Houston in 2022, I decided to make my passion for yoga, conservation, and ocean animals into my life’s work and have decided to share these experiences with you under the watchful eyes of Cozumel Ecologia.  I know what I want in a retreat and promise you a 5-star, all-inclusive retreat, no matter what program you chose!

Vania Verónica Erives Caballero, born in the heroic port of Veracruz and raised on Cozumel Island. With a background of a lawyer, my life mission is to support others in their processes towards a full life. With this I begin to acquire tools to support me and support otr@s in this life. Yoga Master, Life Coach, Facilitator of Ancestral Psychotherapies and Psychomagic.
Commitment begins with myself and thus be able to commit myself to others in the processes of their conscious development towards a life of learning from joy. We achieve this through experiences of self-love where we can reach higher states of consciousness, managing to move away from self-destructive and repetitive mental programming.
In my personal experience, I was able to find in our ancestral Mexican traditions, as well as in others of our humanity, practices that bring us closer to the meeting point with ourselves, this place where our consciousness begins to expand. The teacher on the way is yourself, your being. In my hands is to provide you with expansion tools to create responsibility with yourself and to be able to continue with your process of awareness towards self-love.
ANANDA. V.IDA. It is a Mexican project focused on creating experiences and sustaining safe spaces that allow us to approach humanly a better version of un@ mism@. In the same way we offer mentoring around the creation of experiences, events and moments. Our purpose is to support the human development of the inhabitants of this planet by promoting practices and lifestyles that create harmony in their day to day.
